Blackhorse Lowe is a groundbreaking filmmaker from the Navajo Nation and a visionary storyteller, now serving as Chief Creative Officer at CO\\OP Studios. His work is deeply personal, psychedelic, and spiritual, distinguished by a commitment to challenging genre norms and authentically representing Indigenous stories, often in the Navajo language.
Lowe's cinematic journey is rooted in his unique perspective, having curated CineDOOM, a celebration of theatrical experiences that showcases both cinematic classics and cutting-edge Indigenous films. This dedication to diverse narratives is central to his role at CO\\OP Studios, where he will champion bold, globally resonant content.
An award-winning writer, director, and producer, Blackhorse has directed multiple episodes for critically acclaimed series such as Hulu/FX's Reservation Dogs, Paramount's Joe Pickett, ABC's Big Sky, Starz's Blindspotting, and Prime Video's Outer Range. His feature directorial debut, 5TH WORLD, premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and his 2019 feature Fukry won Best Film at the Terres en Vues/Land InSights Montreal First Peoples Festival. He is also the recipient of a United States Artists Fellowship and an alumnus of the prestigious Sundance Institute's NativeLab, Producers Lab, and Screenwriters Writers Lab.
Currently, Blackhorse is in development for the epic feature LORDS OF THE EARTH, which made the 2020 Blacklist, and is co-writing FORT APACHE with Peabody Award-winning screenwriter Ronald D. Moore. His passion lies in creating films that not only entertain but also transport viewers into new worlds, offering a temporary escape while enriching their understanding of diverse human experiences, perfectly aligning with CO\\OP Studios' mission to redefine entertainment production.
